How to make a satellite installation?

It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Implementation of a simple satellite installation does not need to be done by professional installers. We can do it ourselves. We suggest how to go about it.

What is satellite television?

Satellite television works thanks to satellites which are placed in the Earth’s orbit. These satellites are called transponders. Their job is to receive the digital TV signal, which is transmitted by the broadcaster, and then send it to the receiver. Satellite TV is widely used because it has a huge signal range. To be able to receive satellite television, we need a special dish and a tuner.

The tuner is a stand-alone device or a module that is built into the TV set. Unfortunately, even with a tuner and antenna, we will not always be able to receive the signal of every TV channel. Some of them, due to coding by the broadcaster, are available only after paying appropriate fees, which is worth remembering.

Satellite dish – how to mount it?

The most important thing is good preparation. To mount a satellite dish, which is the main part of a satellite installation, you should first find a suitable place for it. It should be easily accessible and not require working at heights so that the installation can be performed safely. In addition, the mounting surface of the antenna should be stable.

It is also important to place the antenna at the right angle. The antenna should also not be obstructed by elements of other buildings, trees, or other obstacles.

After determining these important factors, we mount the antenna accordingly, using a special bracket. To connect the antenna to the decoder, we need a converter and coaxial cable. Using F-type connectors, we connect the coaxial cable to the converter installed at the antenna. Properly prepared coaxial cable is connected to the set-top-box, which enables reception of satellite television on our TV set.

What is a satellite receiver?

A satellite receiver is the name of the tuner we have mentioned earlier. A digital satellite set to receive DVB-S signal, i.e. Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite, usually consists of a satellite dish, a cable connection between the tuner and the dish and the actual tuner.

DVB-S receivers are separate devices or modules that manufacturers include in the equipment of offered TV sets. Some tuners have many useful features such as the ability to record programs using a hard disk. It is said that the DVB-S standard allows to transmit multimedia in very good quality. In addition, satellite TV also allows to receive a large number of free-to-air channels and to use additional services.

Unfortunately, many people complain about problems with satellite TV reception due to unfavorable weather conditions. Some landlords also do not wish tenants to undertake the installation of a satellite dish. Therefore, before deciding on satellite TV and installing a proper installation, it is worth considering whether it will be the most beneficial choice for you.
