It takes approx. 3 minutes to read this article

Induction cooktops are slowly displacing traditional free-standing stoves. More and more people are relying on these modern solutions. How to install an induction hob? Is its installation difficult? Let’s find out!

What is an induction cooktop?

An induction cooktop is called a device that takes the form of a smooth plate, thanks to which you can easily heat and cook a variety of foods. Many people choose to use such equipment because of its high aesthetic value, as well as the possibility of easy cleaning. It is also a very safe device, which reduces the possibility of getting burned, as well as causing a fire. When cooking on the hob, we do not have to deal with fire. These and many other reasons make the devices increasingly popular. So how do you connect an induction cooktop?

Important information on the installation of induction hobs

Depending on the hob model you choose, installation can be more or less complicated. However, keep in mind that if you do not have any experience when it comes to electrical or installation of similar devices, leave the installation of the hob to experienced professionals. Let’s take care of our safety and that of our surroundings. It is also worth taking into account the fact that, in some cases, installation on your own crosses out the possibility of taking advantage of the warranty in case of any defects.

However, it is not uncommon to prefer to take care of such tasks ourselves. In this case, it is worth opting for a 230-volt device, which is called single-phase. Many of the induction hobs of this type already have built-in plugs, so that their installation is not a major problem.

In the case of devices that require 400 volts, installation may already be a bit more difficult, as we may have to equip the kitchen with a power outlet that will handle electricity of the correct voltage.

Regardless of what voltage is required for the device we choose, it is advisable that it is connected to a separate outlet dedicated only to it. In the case of 400-volt induction hobs, it is indispensable to bring a three-phase network to the kitchen, which will be handled only by a qualified electrician. It is also worth remembering not to install it in close proximity to the sink, as there is a risk of flooding the equipment.

230 V induction hob

Many of the induction cooktops, which require 230-volt electricity to operate, are equipped with a plug, which allows you to easily connect the device by simply plugging it into an outlet. Otherwise, we may have to install a cord that has an adequate cross-section.

The induction cooktop should be installed in a selected, stable place that is not too built-in under the countertop. The induction hob needs adequate ventilation. The installed device is then connected to electricity. After such a procedure, it is worth making sure that everything works as it should, and after that, just enjoy your new device.

In the case of a single-phase network, the connection is relatively simple. However, an induction cooktop that requires 400-volt current can cause a bit more trouble. Current at such a high voltage can be dangerous, so connecting such an appliance rather requires the help of an electrician. As we have already mentioned, since this is a built-in household appliance, in order for it to be covered by the warranty, it is not uncommon to need confirmation that the installation was handled by a specialist.
